They enjoy life and generally don’t like being told what to do, or when to do it. An urbanSenior likes being where the action is, and hopes to be a part of it. They push themselves and understand that good health is earned, even when the price is high. When others stay safely back, urbanSeniors will take a chance.

There are many leaders among them, and they continue to be involved in their communities. The current generation of parents and seniors have been activists. They see themselves as involved and engaged in the activities and policy of their surroundings. An urbanSenior can often be found in this role well into their 80’s or even 90’s. This ongoing community involvement is a fun thing to watch, it is a good thing for the residents we attract and it is a good thing for the business districts and community organizations they support.

As a son or daughter, you know your parents history and style. If you believe this active and engaged lifestyle would be beneficial for them, please consider looking into urbanSenior Living.

If you live in the St. Louis area, please look into our next “happy hour event” at the Big Sky Cafe wine garden, located in Webster Groves. You will go home “happy” and better able to be a resource for a parent or relative when the time comes.

After living in her Glendale home for around fifty years, she says,“ Bev was tired of mainly living in three rooms, yet cleaning the whole house, and taking care of the grounds. It was time for a change.”

She listened to a friend, and decided to visit Pacific Place, the first urbanSenior community. Bev is always on the go, and uses all the nearby shops, businesses and events in many creative ways. Over the ten years she has been here she has been an active member at theYMCA, making good use of the pool and the weight room to maintain health.

After enjoying thArt&Air Art Fair a few blocks from Pacific Place for many years, when asked to volunteer at the information booth she didn’t hesitate to sign up. She even watched an artist’s booth while they took a break, and enjoyed talking with the customers.

When it comes to choices, Bev says, “Moving here was the smartest move I ever made. I love having a real restaurant in the building, the small size of our community so I can get to know everybody, and most of all…I love my independence.”

Bev still loves to travel to visit family in other states, her active lifestyle…and of course the many choices she continues to make at Pacific Place. She is truly and urbanSenior resident.

Ken, an urbanSenior resident at Pacific Place, keeps the healthy walking habits he learned delivering the mail in St. Louis for over thirty-one years. He still does not let snow, hail or dark of night slow him down. Long retired, Ken’s children helped him find just the right environment to continue his active life, and Ken added some new friends and activities too.

No car? “No problem”, says Ken, “I can get to the things I need with a short walk or hitch a ride on the Pacific Place van when the weather is bad or it is too far to walk.”

No Car? “No Problem!”

The thrill of driving stays with us long after our first license. One of the huge benefits with urbanSenior living is its integration into a pedestrian friendly business district with all its shops, services and community activities. Ken has even found a nearby tailor that can help with alterations and repairs.

Ken knows his walking is a healthy thing to do, but it also makes him feel good every day. He is such a regular in the Old Orchard neighborhood, that he has made friends and acquaintances along his route, and looks forward to the hello’s and the short talks along the way.

Ken’s kids discovered Pacific Place, but it is Ken who has discovered that “where you live has an unmistakable effect on how you live.”
